Understanding how aspects of their environment
affect tiger distribution and fitness can help managers make better
decisions about managing for tiger conservation. Predictive maps of
tiger distribution can provide an explicit basis for planning and
carrying out research, training, monitoring, management, and protection
activities aimed at increasing the likelihood of persistence of a
robust tiger
population in western Thailand and neighboring Burma.
In this study, I used linear
and logistic regression techniques to model relationships between tiger prey
species and their environment and between tigers and their environment across a large conservation landscape in western Thailand.
