The goal of this project is to evaluate the representativeness and effectiveness of Cambodia's protected area system using the principles of systematic conservation planning.

The first phase of this work was part of the Biodiversity and Protected Areas Management Project carried out by the Cambodian Department of Nature Conservation and Protection from 2001-2007 in an effort to enhance the sustainability of Cambodia's protected area system.

Currently, products of the original expert-assessment are being compared with various outputs from the MARXAN conservation planning decision support system.
